Cellulose nanocrystal addition in thin film nanocomposite membranes: Which monomer solution is preferred?

چکیده
Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) are biodegradable nanoparticles with a high aspect ratio and abundant surface hydroxyl groups resulting in negatively charged hydrophilic surfaces that make them an ideal candidate to be incorporated thin-film nanocomposite (TFN) membranes. In this study, we modified the CNCs via acetylation (ACNCs) reduce their hydrophilicity reaction L-cysteine (CysCNCs) impart functionality promoted interaction trimesoyl chloride organic monomer used preparation of poly(amide) layer TFN These modifications allowed us question which solution should dispersed. Addition unmodified either aqueous or showed little difference membrane performance. However, addition ACNCs CysCNCs led significant increase performance reverse osmosis (RO) nanofiltration (NF) systems compared solution. addition, exhibited very near upper-bound line for RO NF.

The Potential of Nanoparticles for Upgrading Thin Film Nanocomposite Membranes – A Review
Over the past decade, many applications were intended for filtration by membrane technology especially the thin film composite (TFC) membranes. In advanced developments of thin film membranes, an attempt was made to spread a new generation of membranes called thin film nano composite (TFN) membranes. However, in the last generation of TFNs, an ultrathin selective film of nanoparticles is coated...

متن کاملCellulose Nanocrystal Membranes as Excipients for Drug Delivery Systems
In this work, cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) were obtained from flax fibers by an acid hydrolysis assisted by sonochemistry in order to reduce reaction times. The cavitation inducted during hydrolysis resulted in CNC with uniform shapes, and thus further pretreatments into the cellulose are not required. The obtained CNC exhibited a homogeneous morphology and high crystallinity, as well as typic...

متن کاملThin Film Solar Cells from Nanocrystal Inks of Quaternary Chalcogenides
The creation of a suitable inorganic colloidal nanocrystal ink for use in a scalable coating process is a key step in the development of low-cost thin film solar cells. We have developed an innovative method of using copper indium gallium disulfide (CIGS) nanocrystals as the building block for the fabrication of bulk CIGSSe thin films. The CIGS nanocrystal ink solution is applied directly on va...
